Uma Nair

I am a strategist, writer, speaker, and systems thinker working at the intersection of museums, project management, organizational life, and change.

I am interested in what exists beneath the visible work: the structures and stories that influence how people think, collaborate, make decisions, exercise power, and create meaning together.

For now, my work is focused on museums.

Through The Strategic Museum, I examine how meaningful ideas become collective action—and why that process can become unnecessarily difficult, even when everyone involved cares deeply about the outcome.

I help museum professionals make the patterns within their work more visible, understand what those patterns reveal about the organization around them, and begin creating clearer, healthier, and more effective ways of working together.

Forthcoming Book

My forthcoming book offers a museum-specific approach to project management—combining an adaptable six-phase life cycle and practical tools with a broader examination of what project friction can reveal about organizational capacity, governance, communication, and culture.

It is a guide to managing museum projects more clearly—and to understanding the systems in which those projects take place.
